Book summary (spoiler-free)
Meredith Mills has a plan—and no room for distractions.
As a travel writer, she’s been sent to document the charm of a small New Hampshire town during the holidays. Her mission is simple: create content compelling enough to save her mother’s boutique travel agency from closing.
But Brighton isn’t what she expected.
Instead of a quick assignment, she finds herself immersed in:
- A whimsical pop-up Christmas village
- A tight-knit community full of traditions and surprises
- And a laid-back local designer assigned as her guide—who challenges everything she believes about control and success
As her carefully planned schedule unravels, so does her emotional armor.
Then a powerful nor’easter traps her in town—while back home, her mother faces a breaking point. To help, Meredith must confront a long-hidden truth that could change everything between them.
Now she faces an impossible choice: Stick to the life she’s always planned…or risk everything for the one she’s only just begun to imagine.
Because sometimes, getting lost is the only way to find where you truly belong.

Praise for this book
Sylvie Kurtz has done it again-weaving her Christmas magic in book two of the series. She brings to life real life struggles in families along with a need to find love in the most unexpected places. Her characters are relatable and charming, pulling you right in. I love that her books take you on a journey, full of love and hope, especially at Christmas. Can’t wait for book three!
I read this during a power outage by flashlight and could not put it down. The author had me hooked on the first page and I could not turn the pages fast enough but yet wanted to take my time savor each word at the same time.
Outstanding writing that makes you want to move right in and be a part of the story and of course bring a dog lover Marley was the cherry on the top of this story.
This book should be a NY Times best seller with tons of awards in my opinion. I loved both books in this series but this one really hit home with me.
The beautiful cover of this novel immediately caught my attention. The story pulled me in, especially after the protagonist, Meredith Mills reached Brighton, NH, and met Elana, owner of Fisher Camp Lodge and a grieving mother; and her therapy dog, sweet Marlie. The town is reminiscent of those in a Hallmark Christmas Movie with a castle, carousel, ice skating, tree lighting, and winter festivities. Handsome Aaron Carpenter portrays a gentleman hero who shows Meredith the sparkling town sights, and captures her heart. I highly recommend as a sweet romance and a lovely Christmas story.
